Basic Info
Name:Kakuzu
Bio
Personality

Kakuzu is the pinnacle of grump old men...except for the fact that he's not an old man yet. He acts much older than he really is, although not in all of the good ways, and generally in most of the bad ways. He has a bad temper and is prone to severe violence if he's annoyed, although he hasn't killed anyone...yet. As for whether he's put anyone in the hospital, well, that's a figure that he can't count on his hands. He's sent many of his former business partners into walls when they've pissed him off. He also often likes to bemoan the youth today and their trends, despite the fact that he buys into more than a few of them himself. His apartment just wouldn't be complete without his iPod and Bose sound system.

Above all, though, Kakuzu is greedy and can be stingy at times, although his lavish living arrangements don't reflect that. He's quick to spend money to better himself and his own lifestyle, but the second that that purchase benefits anyone but himself, he turns into an old miser. He's been like this ever since he was a child, and nobody knows why. His parents were otherwise normal Texan realtors who did their best to instill normal human values on their son, but somehow, he still ended up the greedy, stingy bastard.

His one true love, and the only thing from which he derives any sort of pleasure is sewing and costume design, and he basically considers it his raison d'etre. If he's not at work, and he's not busy counting his money or doing his finances, then he's probably sewing just for the heck of it. Many of the things that he sews out of spare fabric gets donated to charity, although he doesn't consider this a charitable act, nor does he consider himself a good person-- it's merely not wasting what he already has and can't use, because if there's anything worse than spending exorbitant amounts of money, it's wasting money.

History

Kakuzu was born to two normal parents in an otherwise normal, moderately populated Texas town. Really, there was nothing ever special about his life, which is why it's a wonder that he turned out the way they did. While he was growing up, the local realty market was flourishing, which meant good things for his parents, and they were never lacking for money, and even able to easily indulge in a few creature comforts without even coming near to breaking the bank. He was encouraged in school, but not pushed, and generally did well, managing to stay at the top of his class.

But no one, for the life of him, could understand why Kakuzu was so stiff and money-grubbing, even as early as the age of 8. His parents took him to see counselors and therapists but none of them could really find anything wrong with the boy, no underlying problems, nothing. At the very least, he was a hardworking boy and understood that in order to get his allowance, he needed to do his chores, and thus did them in a timely manner. What was more nerve wracking for his parents was that he was always trying to talk business with them, such as whether or not he deserved a raise, if he could do extra chores to make more money, anything. He rarely let his mother buy him new clothes, as he insisted that he mend them himself, and he hated the vacations they went on, when they could be saving that money. His parents just had to learn to live with their son's odd ways, and eventually things settled themselves into a sort of routine. It wasn't so bad once they got used to the way they needed to talk to him, and his dad would never admit it, but it was nice having someone around to talk business with, even if that someone was a fifteen-year-old.

So it was expected that Kakuzu would go into business or accounting or something along that line. His parents, however, were surprised when the acceptance letter came from Savannah College of Art And Design, and he hastily declared his intention to attend classes there. It was a year later, in the middle of his freshman year in college, that the real reason he'd chosen to go into fashion design: one evening, as he'd been mending a dress shirt, he'd come to a realization. Anyone could start a business and make a decent amount of money, and anyone could be a stock broker. But he had something that could make him far richer than any of those jobs: the ability to design and create clothing. In all his mending, he'd picked things up here and there, and had worked after school on costumes for the high school theatre department. It served to reason that he would do what would make him the most money.

Graduating with honors, Kakuzu found himself on his own, finally, after all these years. He didn't particularly dislike his parents, nor did he feel any strong desire to go home. A combination of suggestion and circumstance brought him to New York to work on his designs there. Ever since, he has garnered quite the name for himself, if only locally, and has been making a steadily increasing salary. While he's not world-famous just yet, he's steadily on his way to renown-- and a veritable fortune.
